JANUARY 2010 - New year's greetings from all of US! While the last month has seen freezing temperatures outside, things have been hotting up inside the Urban Solutions offices. Winter is the time of year when our heating engineers are at their busiest and the recent bitter weather has seen our team working overtime to keep our customers warm in their homes, repairing boilers and heating systems. But amidst all the hard work we have still found time to look ahead to 2010 and single out some of the events and issues that we think will be important for you and for US in the coming months.
NO TASK TOO SMALL
The New Year is a time for new resolutions and many of our customers may be thinking about all of those small jobs that need doing around the house, but feel that they are too insignificant to justify a call to US. You couldn't be more wrong! We at Urban Solutions are happy to take on any job, no matter how small. We charge hourly rates, so if it only takes an hour or even less, then that is what we will charge. We take a long-term view and believe that if you like the work that we've done, you'll use our service again and even recommend US to your friends. OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW
In an effort to make us all a bit greener, the Government have announced a boiler scrappage scheme which will see homeowners receiving a £400 cash incentive to replace their old boiler for a new energy efficient one. This initiative is now up and running and anyone who applies for it will receive their £400 voucher on or after January 18. But it is not just an opportunity to cut carbon emissions and do more for the environment. Estimates suggest that upgrading your G-rated boiler to an A-rated one could save an average of £235 a year on household heating bills. MEETING SOME OF US
We at Urban Solutions would like you to see the human face of our business, so every now and again we will introduce a member of the team so you can get to know US. This month it is the turn of one of our most popular plumbers, Jason Abrams.
How long have you worked for Urban Solutions?
I'm a relative newcomer - I joined the business about 18 months ago.
What made you decide to become a plumber?
Ever since I can remember I wanted to learn a trade and plumbing has always stood me in good stead. People will always need someone to mend their toilet!
If you had to give US customers one tip what would it be?
We often give tips in the Ham & High, the local paper for Hampstead and Highgate, but one that is worth remembering is to clean your showerhead on a regular basis. Limescale builds up very quickly, especially with London's hard water, so keep your showerhead clean to prevent it becoming a problem. It really will make a difference to the quality of your shower.
A WORD OF THANKS
We always intend to get the job right first time and leave a satisfied customer, but it is always nice to hear first hand from someone who has appreciated our work. So, you can imagine how pleased we were when Mrs Loyd in NW11 got in touch recently to tell US this:
Nick, your heating engineer, was a delight to have in our house. I feel confident that I understand the new boiler and it all looks very smart. The best part was having the new boiler working on the same day that the old one was removed as I have a sick husband awaiting major surgery and keeping warm is very important.
